There are other government officials, too. Many serve in Congress. Congress is divided into two parts. They are the Senate and the House of Representatives. Every state has two senators. And every state has a different number of representatives in the House. Some have laws for the country. They work from the Capital in Washington, D.C.
1. What do the members of Congress do?
- They make American laws.
2. a. Who leads the American government? - The president.
b. How many senators does each state have? - Two.
c. Where do the members of Congress work? - The Capital of Washington, D.C.
3. a. senator : a member of the Senate.
b. representative : a member of the House of Representatives.
c. be elected : to be voted to a position by the people.
