[ The World Times ] Hope Tape

Despite Korea's continuous efforts to prevent children from going missing, around 20,000 missing children cases have been reported annuallywithin the past five years, recently announced by the National Police Agency and the Ministry of Health and Welfare. 

 

To mark International Missing Children's Day, which was commemorated on May 25, the Ministry of Science and ICT recently collaborated with the National Police Agency, Hanjin Express, and Cheil Worldwide to launch a special campaign to help reunite missing children with thei families.

 

Called "Hope Tape," the campaign features a box-sealing tape that bear some crucial information about28 missing children who have yet to be found. The information includes their images taken before they went missing, images of their current apearance estimated by composite sketch techology, the places where they went missing, their physical characteristics, and more. 

 

The tape will be available at a total of 22 post dffices across Seoul and will be used at Hanjin Express' Logistics Center in Seoul until June 20. According to the National Police Agency, around 62,000 boxes will be sealed with the tape.

 

In addition, the tape features QR codes that direct people to Safety Dream, and app created by the National Police Agency, so they can report missing children cases and preregister their children's fingerprints to help prevent them from going missing. Given that people frequently send and receive parcels, the campaign will sigmificantly increase people's awareness about issue related to missing children.
